What are Termites?
Termites are considered to be one of the most destructive pests in the world. Termites are insects, which mostly feed on dead plant matter like woodchip, decayed wood (logs), leaf litter and soil. They are sometimes called “white ants” but they are only distantly related to ants.Termites stay hidden in confined environments where they can stay warm and moist. Termites eat from the middle of the wood out and generally leave the exposed or painted surface untouched.
Pre Construction Termite Treatment
The Pre construction treatment is the first line of defense for the Termite protection of a new home . The ultimate aim of Pest control during new construction is to form a seamless and continuous chemical barrier in the soil such that termites are denied access from beneath or sides of the built up area of the building.

Life Cycle of Termite
The life cycle of the termite begins with a mating flight, where in swarming winged reproductive males and females leave established colonies and procreate. The queen and king termites are at the center of the termite life cycle and are responsible for reproduction.
- After the fertilized queen lays her eggs, they hatch into pale white larvae.
- A nymph is a young termite that is going through molts, a process of shedding its exoskeleton, to become a reproductive.
- Over the course of several molts, these larvae grow to assume a role in one of the three termite colony castes: workers, soldiers, and reproductive termites, also known as alates.
- The termite life cycle also includes swarming. Once reproductives become fully mature termites capable of reproducing, they develop wings and functioning eyes.
Habits & Facts of Termite
- Termites are rich in iron, calcium, fatty and amino acids, and proteins, making them a highly nutritious food.
- Termites never sleep. They build their colonies 24 hours a day, every day, until they die.
- The largest termite colony ever recorded contained over three million termites.
- Some termite species’ queens can lay 15 to 25 eggs per minute--and over 40,000 per day.
- Ants are termites' main competition and predators. Occasionally, termite and ant colonies near each other will even go to war over territory and access to food.
